END-OF-LIFE CARE
Last night, end-of-life patient Green
Departed Room Five's earthly scene.
As the coroner said,
"She died, cared for in bed
Departed Room Five's earthly scene.
As the coroner said,
"She died, cared for in bed
By her loved ones, surrounded, serene."
Down the hall, long-term patient Liz Cohn
Drew in breath, then gave out her last moan.
As the coroner thought,
"She expired in her cot,
Friends and family outlived, all alone."
Dr G.H. and Giorgio Coniglio, 2022
Authors' Note: In some jurisdictions, all deaths in a long-term nursing facility must be reported to the office of the coroner.
