poetry lyrics:/ "With that monument trashed," said the client,/ "I repent, I'm

 no longer defiant./ My annoyance confessed,/ Jail avidance seems best/

 On your mercy, dear Judge, I'm reliant." 

Pled his lawyer, "this stunt's perpetration/ Is a 'crime', but sme folks feel elation./

 Our case: History berates/ The Confederate states/ 

Such statues dishonor our nation." 

Authors' Note: More than 150 years after the conclusion of the American Civil War, the role of the Confederacy continues to generate high emotions.
